Capiz Shell Gold Orlare Placemat Set
Set of six oval placemats handmade with layered capiz shells. These scallop-edged oval placemats are lightly sealed for food. The edges are reinforcement in gold-plated metal, and the underside has foam backing for protection.
Capiz shells, also known as Windowpane Oysters, are native to the Philippines. They are edible, but valued more for their pearlescent shells and small pearls. They acquired the name from its long history dating as far back to 1860s being described in a dictionary.
While these are much sturdier than they look, two of the placemats have been lightly bent during transport. Price has been adjusted to reflect this.
